Okinawan festivals with fireworks

Japan has four distinct seasons, and each has its own special features. This provides unique ways of having an enjoyable time which over the years have become Japanese traditions.
Fireworks are one of the highlights of summer in Japan. While feeling the cool evening breeze wearing a yukata — traditional summer clothing that is very similar in design and appearance to a kimono — you can enjoy the summer festivities, which are then climaxed with a spectacular display of fireworks that beautifully light up the evening skies over the island. In the past going with family and friends to community fireworks festivals was a common practice in summer, especially when there were not so many leisure activities available. Even now, although there are many more things to do, Japanese people still enjoy the fireworks displays and festival atmosphere.
Fireworks displays are the ultimate summer event. Every year Japanese pyrotechnicians put their heart and soul into making fireworks that will impress the spectators.
The production of fireworks, which is also a traditional art of Japan, has been and still is evolving. Japanese fireworks, which bloom into circular shapes, spreading colorful petals all around the sky, are designed using chrysanthemums and peonies as motifs. The Japanese are justifiably proud of these unique floral displays, a key part of the long-standing tradition of elaborate and splendid fireworks in the country.
A list of fireworks festivals is below. Let’s enjoy summer to the fullest!
