Flower island

Okinawa is the place where you can enjoy the first blooms in Japan of both cherry blossoms, a symbol of spring, and sunflowers, that of summer. Blessed with a warm subtropical climate, Okinawa boasts vividly colored tropical flowers throughout the year. Along with these exotic blooms, light pink cherry blossoms and brilliant sunflowers add an extra flavor to Okinawa’s scenery at this time of the year. During the months of January and February there are a number of flower festivals taking place in various places on the island. With the island beautifully adorned with colorful flowers, this is one of the best times of year to enjoy a leisurely drive around Okinawa while taking in the stunning floral scenery.
