Indian Traditional Ceremony Diwali

In the 1960s many Indians moved to Okinawa from Hong Kong. Setting up tailor shops and souvenir stores in Okinawa City, their businesses flourished in the economic boom following the return to Japanese rule.  On Gate 2 Street, the second generation sell casual urban clothing where their parents previously sold souvenirs. Okinawa’s Hiyagon district even has a Hindu temple built by an Indian expat. And Diwali celebration was held at the Hindu temple on November 13, 2012.
