Run by Okinawa’s prominent woodblock artist Bokunen Naka, A kara located at the Mihama Depot Island is a very popular shopping, dining and art complex among locals and tourists alike. With a curved, dynamic roof and a spacious design that invites seasonal breezes, the building, which features an Okinawan motif, was designed by Bokunen the prodigy. Dinng and bar Janosz can be found at Akara, together with the Bokunen’s art gallery and a specialty shop with Okinawan-themed T-shirts and unique kariyushi-inspired polo shirts. Located on the third floor of the building, Janosz offers unique nouvelle cuisine prepared with selected ingredients. A new highlight of the restaurant, after its grand reopening in 2013, is flair bartending. Experienced bartenders will spice up your evening with exciting cocktail making performances. Featured in the drink menu are local beers, cocktails, whisky, wine and a large variety of non-alcoholic beverages, including home-roasted coffee, Ryukyu tea, non-alcoholic cocktails made with tropical fruits.
The place can accommodate up to 60 people seated or 120 people for a private stand-up party. In addition, projector, microphones, bingo set and more items are available for borrowing at no charge.
