Folk music performance & international buffet

Treat yourself to the Golden Buffet at the Sailfish Café on the first floor of the Renaissance Okinawa Resort. Offering multi-ethnic cuisine reflecting a “Silk Road” theme, their extensive all-you-can-eat buffet has 100 items for lunch and 120 for dinner, including rice bowls topped with fresh sashimi, Okinawan dishes, dim sum, Chinese-style roast chicken and sweet, spicy ribs, Thai and Indian curries, Middle Eastern fare such as doner kebabs, pizza, freshly baked bread and numerous choices for your sweet tooth. Prices are reasonable, too: The weekday lunch buffet is 2,000 yen for adults, and the weekday dinner buffet runs you only 3,800 yen. As with the saffron rice with gold leaf and the Golden Pyramid, a huge 78-centimeter-high cake with a gold mound of chestnut and sweet potato cream, in the dessert selection, many items featured at the buffet are prepared with a “gold” theme.

For its 25th anniversary, the Renaissance Okinawa Resort has been hosting a variety of events and programs under the concept of ”Ryukyu Renaissance” since Nov. 1, 2012. As part of the anniversary specials, until Oct. 31, 2013, you can enjoy the Sailfish Café’s Golden Buffet dinner along with a live performance by Okinawan folk music singer Yoriko Ganeko, a popular folk singer who took part in Ryuichi Sakamoto’s world tour and who has also collaborated with nationally famous rock band The Boom, and her group.
